Viewers on Amazon prime may soon get more cricket action as Inside Edge season 3 was announced as Amazon boss Jeff Bezos visited India. Web-series streaming platform recently released season 2 of the first Indian-origin web series based on cricket. Season 1 was released back in 2017 and was a smashing success in India among the ordinary viewers and critics.
Amazon played their cards well and capitalized on India being a cricket crazy country. Season two was released after a little over two years, and all ten episodes were released on the same day. Season two got mixed reviews. However, this did not stop the amazon from announcing a season 3 of the show.
Inside Edge follows the story of fictional cricket team Mumbai Mavericks which competes in the fictional Powerplay league for the top-spot. Series is given a touch of reality and explores the dark side of cricket, such as match-fixing, politics, greed, and corruption. It beautifully portrays how the conflict of interest plays out in the sporting world, and money and power go hand in hand.
Season 1, directed majorly by Karan Anshuman, focussed on match-fixing and control of ownership of the team, In contrast, Season 2, directed majorly by Aakash Bhatia, focuses on how players have to keep themselves focussed on cricket despite scandals that occur in the cricketing world.
Most of the cast member of season 1 has returned for season 2 this includes Vivek Oberoi as Vikrant Dhawan, the corrupt owner of sports management company, Richa Chadha as a fading actress, Zarina Mallick as co-owner of Mumbai Mavericks, Taruj Virwani as ace-player of Mumbai Mavericks, Siddharth Chaturvedi as promising rookie bowler, Angad Bedi as captain of rival team Haryana Hurricanes among others.
Filled with stunning visuals and elegant batting and bowling stroke series remains a favorite among cricket fans. Details about the plot, star cast and release date of season 3 have not been revealed yet.
