Disney Just Confirmed Hocus Pocus 2 & Fans Can’t Hold their Excitement: Release Date, Cast & More

Evil Sanderson Sister Witches are coming back to cast a spell on you

Some movies, despite being a box-office failure, can develop a cult following. Usually, such movies do not get a sequel, but times are changing. Disney recently announced that the 1993 Dark fantasy comedy horror film Hocus Pocus will get a sequel.

Background

Hocus Pocus follows three evil witches who are resurrected on Halloween night. They aim to suck souls of all the children in Salem, Massachusetts, to live forever.

Three children who resurrected them know about their plan and are the only obstacle in the completion of the witches’ plan. The three children are aided by a talking cat who was cursed by the witches 300 years ago to live forever as a cat.

New Cast?

The original movie starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the evil Sanderson sisters. Omri Katz, Thora Birch, and Vinessa Shaw played the three kids who try to stop the witches.

Nothing is certain about the cast or the plot of the film. Earlier rumors suggested that the original cast would not return, but new reports suggest that we may see some old faces.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who was part of the original movie, said that she and her witch sisters are returning as Sanderson sisters and are just waiting for the official seal from Disney. Doug Jones also expressed his desire to reprise his role.

A TV Movie or Sequel?

Initially, there were reports which suggested that Hocus Pocus 2 would be a TV movie. Development work on the movie had already started. The movie was going to be a reboot and not a sequel. New reports came according to which Hocus Pocus 2 would be a sequel to the old movie and available on Disney+. Jen D’Angelo was roped in to direct the film.

What is the plot and Release Date?

The plot and release date of the sequel is unknown. Fans who religiously watched hocus pocus on Halloween are excited about a sequel.
