Rick Moranis returns to Honey, I Shrunk The Children After 23 years hiatus, remake

We were cautiously optimistic about the announcement that they were rebooting Honey, I Shrunk The Kids. But now the star who magically made the franchise returns, our hopes are going through the roof.

It has been announced that Rick Moranis will star in Honey’s revival of Disney, I Shrunk The Kids, called Shrunk, after a live-action film hiatus spanning nearly 23 years.

The 66-year-old revealed with a GIF of his character Wayne Szalinski coming out of retirement, tweeting: ‘ HONEY, IM Here. ‘

And Josh Gad, who set to play Rick’s son in Shrunk, tweeted:’ The understatement of the decade to say it’s a dream come true to see #RickMoranis on the big screen once again. But to say, I get a seat view of him coming back to play one of his most iconic roles is the Century’s understatement. Hello, Hero Back!’

The Frozen actor has added: ‘ Welcome my friend back. We have all missed you more than you could know. ‘

According to Vanity Fair:

Gad was instrumental in Moranis ‘ comeback, demanding that he be a part of the revival, according to Vanity Fair.

Moranis played the quirky scientist Wayne Szalinski in 1989’s Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, and its two sequels Honey, I Blew Up The Kid (1992), and Honey. We Shrunk Ourselves (1997) and also known for appearing as Louis Tully in Ghostbusters. Lord Dark Helmet in Spaceballs and Seymour Krelborn in Little Shop Of Horrors and Barney Rubble in The Flintstones.

After Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves in 1997; Rick retired from the film industry to concentrate on a single dad to the Rachel and Mitchell twins, after wife Ann Belsky’s death in 1991.

Stuff is happening to people all the time, and people are making changes, changing careers, moving to another place. That is all I have achieved.

The star added: ‘ I truly have no regrets. My life is wonderful. ‘ Although he hasn’t acted in live-action films since 1997, Moranis has been doing voice-work, like Rutt in Brother Bear.
