STARYU

ABOUT STARYU

Are you thinking to get a water-type Pokemon? Well, then what you think about Staryu Evolution? Well, then you must know about it first. Staryu is a brown, starfish-like Pokémon with five appendages. These appendages surround an exterior organ called the core. The core is a golden metal casing with a red gem in the centre.  If any of Staryu’s appendages are lost or eaten by predators it can grow them back with ease provided the core is still intact. When the sun goes down, the core glows its brightest.

MYTH

Many Staryu float on the surface and align themselves with stars of the night sky as their core flickers, displaying a connection with the celestial bodies of space. The anime has shown that if Staryu becomes weak, its core will grow faint and flash slowly. During the ends of summer, groups of Staryu tend to gather while lighting up in a steady rhythm.

MAJOR APPEARANCES

  • Misty’s Staryu

Staryu is one of Misty’s main battlers throughout the original series. It debuted in Clefairy and the Moon Stone, thus also marking the species’ debut. It also appeared during Misty’s cameo arcs in Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire and Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon.

In The Great Eight Fate!, two Staryu were part of Juan’s Sootopolis City Water Exhibit. They and Juan’s other Pokémon were captured by Team Rocket, but they all worked together to escape.

HOW TO EVOLVE?

Staryu Evolution starts when it evolves into Starmie when exposed to a Water Stone.

HOW USEFUL IS MY STARYU?

Hydro Pump is a very strong STAB attack. Psychic, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt provide great coverage against many Pokemon that resist Water. However, if your team desperately needs entry hazard removal, Staryu is strong enough to drop a coverage move and run Rapid Spin. Staryu is pretty frail when it isn’t carrying Eviolite, so be careful about switching it into anything but the weakest attacks out there. Staryu is really strong with Analytic, so bring it in on something it forces out like Ponyta. Be sure to weaken Pokemon with priority attacks such as Timburr and Pawniard, as they can dodge Staryu’s excellent Speed and threaten it with their STAB priority attacks.
