The plot of this show revolves around a soon to be released prisoner, Shadow Moon. His wife dies in a road accident, and he is released before time from the prison so that he can perform her last rites. On his way back home, he meets a shady and strange fellow called Mr. Wednesday. Mr. Wednesday always tries to pursue him for a job, but Moon steadily declines it. After being pursued continuously and indirectly forced to take the responsibility, Moon discovers a world of magic that involves the Old Gods, the New Gods, and an impending threat.
American Gods Season 3: Plot
American Gods season 3 is based on a novel of the same name, which is written by Neil Gaiman. According to a source, in the upcoming season, Shadow Moon will create a new identity for himself and will move to Lakeside, Wisconsin, to escape from the New Gods.
Season 3 will focus mainly on four characters Shadow Moon, Wednesday, Laura, and Mad Sweeney. “There are so many different kinds of directions that the show can go in. We can even bring in [Gaiman’s 2005 book] Anansi Boys and [2007’s] The Monarch of the Glen and all these other spin-off stories that Neil writes, and the eventual sequel [to American Gods]” said Ricky Whittle, the actor who plays the role of Shadow Moon in the series.

Well, the makers have yet no confirmed a release date for American Gods season 3, but we can expect it to release by the mid of 2021. The shooting of the upcoming season has already begun. Season 3 will comprise of 10 episodes and will be available on Amazon Prime.
