Star-studded HBO television series “Big Little Lies” may return for a 3rd season if all the actors can make space for it in their busy schedules.
Big Little Lies aired its last episode in July 2019 and ending suggested that this was the end of the show, but is it? Almost all the actors on the show have expressed their desire to come back, but nothing official has been confirmed by the showrunners, Television network, or the actors.
The hit television series is based on a book of the same name and tells a story of five women from Monterey, California, who get involved in a murder investigation. All the major characters are Hollywood A-listers such as Nicole Kidman, who plays Celeste Wright, Reese Witherspoon, who portrays Madeline Mackenzie. Shailene Woodley as Jane Chapman, Laura Dern as Renata Klein, and Zoe Kravitz as Bonnie Carlson. Academy Award winner Meryl Streep joined the season 2 the show as Mary Louise.
May or May not?
HBO’s President of Programming Casey Boyle on rumors about Season 3 said that he would love to work with all the actors again, but their tight schedule and commitments to other projects make season 3 difficult. Nicole Kidman calls season three “more of a dream than reality.” Laura Dern has confirmed that she will love to portray Renata again. Rumors of a season 3 picked up pace when Reese Witherspoon posted a story through her Instagram, which said, “Bringing a little sunshine to my day! Stopped by the office for some exciting meetings, can’t wait to share more with y’all soon! #bigthingscoming,”.Fans are speculating; this is a reference to the third season of the show.
Who else will be back?
If the show comes back for the third season, fans would expect all the five leading ladies to be back. We may see Robin Weigert return as therapist Dr. Amanda Reisman, Douglas Smith could return as Corey, Jane’s crush and handsome colleague.
Fans are excited, and critics also loved the show. But nothing official has been confirmed, so we would have to wait to see if indeed there will be a season 3 or not.
