Game of Thrones is considered to be one of the most popular television series of this decade, along with the walking dead. Although fans are not quite happy with the ending that the HBO original series gave. George RR Martin, in a few interviews, talked about how HBO did not do justice to the series as George RR Martin has not published the book, which has the original or novel version of the ending of GOT, “Winds of Winter”.
George RR Martin has previously said that his version has a very different ending to the series of “A Song Of Ice And Fire.” However, fans are not happy to wait for much more time. It is pretty clear that the Novel series of A Song of Ice and Fire is much better than Game of Thrones, but since Winds of Winter has not been released by Martin, the other potential ending to the series is currently on a cliffhanger.
Nevertheless, George RR Martin has recently hinted at the release day of Winds of Winter. He promised to publish the book by the 2020 New Zealand WorldCon festival.
In a blog post he wrote “If I don’t have THE WINDS OF WINTER in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for Worldcon 2020, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I’m done. Just so long as the acrid fumes do not screw up my old DOS word processor, I’ll be fine.”
If we were to believe this post, then it would be safe to assume that we will get Winds of Winter sometime around the end of July and the starting week of August. Although things might be tough for Martin right now since the pandemic is in his way, but personally I don’t think that it’s enough to shake the guy who created Westeros. The release date is not certain, but we have got a general idea of when Martin is willing to finish.
