The release of war drama Greyhound by Sony Pictures has been pushed by month as announced by the production house. The film directed by Aaron Schneider was slated to release on 8 May this year. Instead, the movie has been moved to a new release date of 12 June.
Tom Hanks, who recently returned home from coronavirus quarantine in Australia, is set to star in the lead role. The script is said to be written by Tom Hanks himself, which is an adoption of C.S. Forester’s novel The Good Shepherd. Alongside Hanks in the lead role, the film stars Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, and Elisabeth Shue.
Greyhound: Plot & Cast
The story set in World War II is about 37 international ships led by captain Ernest Krause which crossed the North Atlantic while being pursued and attacked by the Nazi boats. Sony Pictures dropped the movie’s trailer last month, which has accounted for over 10 million views till now.
In the trailer, it is shown that Navy Capt. Ernest Krause is entrusted with his first command of US destroyer ship, code-named Greyhound. The captain is in control of protecting an allied convoy of 37 vessels as they cross Atlantic. The task becomes quite severe when they are ambushed by Nazi boats. A stoic Captain Krause stands hard and retaliates the attackers to protect the Greyhound.
The trailer was quite intimidating and action-packed, which makes the wait for the movie more exciting. Hanks portrayed an army man’s role previously in Forrest Gump (1994), which won him the Oscars.
Greyhound: Release Date
His experience of playing an army man in the Oscar-winning movie may well be exploited here in the upcoming film. Hanks is expected to deliver the same performance or even better. The actor and his wife are just home from their quarantine in Australia. The couple was tested positive for coronavirus last month in Australia. The movie’s release in June means Hanks can well be healthy and recovered to attend the premiere.
