Aquaman 2 is all set to release on December 16, 2022. The confirmation comes after much controversy surrounding the same afterword of Jason Momoa’s refusal to shoot for the film came about. Momoa was purportedly injured by a bulldozer while he was sitting out at a protest.
An even more contentious controversy surrounding Aquaman 2 revolves around Johnny Depp’s accusations against Amber Heard in court in which he said that Amber Heard was the abusive individual in their marriage and not the other way around.
“I never abused Ms. Heard or any other woman,” Depp said in the court document.
“While adding prescription amphetamines and non-prescription drugs with alcohol, Ms. Heard committed innumerable acts of domestic violence against me,” the actor added.
Amber Heard penned an anti-domestic abuse op-ed in the Washington Post last December, drawing from her experiences in her marriage to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Johnny Depp, after parting ways with him in 2016.
However, the controversy seems to have had no effect on Aquaman 2, despite Depp’s counter-accusations against Heard, alleging that she went to court with “painted-on bruises” as evidence.
Amber Heard has added a prominent voice to her legal team and has filed new court papers arguing for the dismissal of her ex-husband Johnny Depp’s defamation suit over her op-ed.
There has been no word so far of any direct consequences to the release of Aquaman 2 due to the ongoing Depp-Heard conflict.
