Smeargle Pokémon | Evolution, Weakness, Moveset, Stats, And More!

Any wonder why you should select Smeargle Evolution over others when the Moveset has quite a low listings in it which also can be one of its weakness. Well, we can help you with that with the important information given about it.

Smeargle is a Normal-type Pokémon that made its first presence in Generation 2. It is a two-legged Pokémon with its fur coloured in black and brown. The tip of its long tail contains a paintbrush covered with paint. However, the colour of the paint varies for each Smeargle. The games in the Pokémon franchise have shown three colours of its tail – Green, Brown, and Red. But the anime show has given two more colours to its tail – Yellow and Blue. It has large white eyes with tiny black pupils. Its nasal section has two small holes through which it breathes. The ears are coloured in brown while it has a hat-like structure on top of its head with a pointy end emerging from the middle. Additionally, the bottom part of its legs and hands are covered with one and two circular brown rings respectively.

You will often see Smeargle with its tongue hanging out in the open. The paintbrush on its tail is usually painted with green colour. And it also uses its paintbrush to mark its area. They are usually found in cities. Its shape kind of matches with a Beagle dog.

How To Evolve?

Smeargle doesn’t have any evolutionary form. The power of evolution is not present in Smeargle.

It doesn’t matter if Smeargle has a good-looking friendship stat, it can still try to run away from you. And they are a bit hard to obtain. That’s why the usage of a perfect Pokéball is necessary. Also, make sure you have berries with you. If your Smeargle tries to escape and it succeeds, then you always have the option of using photobomb to catch it back.

Furthermore, the paint which emerges from its paintbrush tail contains a type of fluid that helps in changing the colour of its tail whenever Smeargle faces an emotional change.

How Useful Is My Smeargle?

Smeargle has an amazing ability to copy the last move of its opponents. It uses the Sketch move to perform this process. This ability helps it in copying any move in the gaming series of Pokémon. However, this ability is not useful against Chatter, Struggle, and Shadow moves. Which is why it is also able to transfer any Egg Move to the Pokémon belonging to the Field Egg Group. But there is a major problem with Smeargle’s moves, or should we say its only move. Yes, you got that right! It has only one move in its arsenal. Quite a weakness for Smeargle, right? And the same Sketch move can be levelled up at different levels. Additionally, Smeargle cannot have any learnings by TM in its Moveset.

You must know that if Smeargle is not able to copy the move of its opponent, then it can come up with any move. Plus, it doesn’t know how to learn a second Charged attack. It doesn’t matter if its opponent knows this move or not. Also, the same move can be copied more than four times by a Smeargle.

Smeargle also has a hidden ability called Moody. It can be used to increase any random stat by two stages. But we don’t know which stat will be augmented. In return, it backfires on us as it also decreases another random stat by one stage.

Smeargle has two main abilities to use against its foes – Own Tempo and Technician. Own Tempo proves to be really helpful to it as it removes all the confusion from its mind. On the other hand, Technician is beneficial to it. Especially when it’s power stat is less than 60. It ends up increasing the power of Smeargle up to 50%.
