Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek announced that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
It was in the month of march that the host had announced his health condition. In contrast to the popular response, Alex is being extremely strong and positive. He is taking it all in with a brave heart. It has been reported that he is done with his first round of chemotherapy in the month of August last year.
In an interview with Lisa Laflamme, Trebek heartily declared, “I’m not afraid of dying. I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life … if it happens, why should I be afraid that?” he further explained his wish in his funeral ceremony. He is determined no one will tell that he was taken away from us too soon. This sentence will be untold as a part of his eulogy.
Trebek began hosting the famous show Jeopardy! Way back in 1984. After his first round of chemo, he got to know that he was healing in the right direction. Then things went downhill for him. He later learned he would have to go through the second round of chemotherapy. The numbers of his cancer disease suddenly increased 50 percent higher.
He said that being optimistic was very hard in these situations. All his fans, friends, and family members are looking at him for reassurance. He says he feels responsible to make them elevate their despair that they are feeling towards him.
Alex has said he is not done with Jeopardy just yet. In fact, we will see him again. He is said to hosting ABC special. The episode is known as What Is Jeopardy? Alex Trebek and America’s Most Popular Quiz Show. He has also prepared a goodbye speech for the Jeopardy show.
