Mindhunter is a crime drama and a psychological thriller created by Joe Penhall based on the novel Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas & Mark Olshaker. The series contained 2 seasons with 19 episodes broadcast by Netflix. Mindhunter was originally released on October 13, 2017, with 10 episodes, season 2 was released on August 16, 2019, with 9 episodes globally.
The series is all about the FBI agents who are trained at the FBI academy in Quantico, Virginia. They take the jailed criminals into custody, apply their knowledge to know their way of thinking, and get hold of the criminals, and crack the current cases.
Season 1 has received positive critics and got a good rating; it secured to be among the top 10 best TV shows of 2017. Season 2 was equally good to season 1 and got more ratings compared to season 1. Jonathan Groff was honored the Best Actor in drama/genre series at the Satellite Awards. The series was also nominated for many other awards.
After celebrating the success of two seasons, Mindhunter might return with the third season. Mindhunter has not been renewed for a third season until now as the director ‘David Fincher’ is busy with other projects.
Fincher set his focus on his new project, “Love, Death, and Robots,” he may abandon Mindhunter for now!!! Mindhunter 3 may not be aired soon but will definitely return at some point in time; fans shouldn’t lose hope!!

The cast of Mindhunter is relieved and had to rely on other projects for which they feel unfair. Initially, Mindhunter was planned for 5 seasons but may not follow the pattern due to the busy schedule of Fincher. If the series returns, the filming will probably start after the release of Fincher’s new film “Mank.”
So, Mindhunter 3 is likely to be released in early 2021. The stars might probably make new contracts or commitments as they got relieved from Mindhunter. So, if Mindhunter returns with season 3, the director has to schedule the shoot according to the timings and needs of the cast members!!!
