Ufotable had announced the news of the movie a long time back. They had revealed the news of their work on the movie right after season 1 had ended. They had also officially confirmed production had also started at the same time. It is no exaggeration to say that Demon Slayer had been one of the topmost anime in the year 2019. The audience had willfully appreciated the anime. Furthermore, the critical reviews that the anime had earned were also drowning in the positive pool.
The anime had often been at the top in the charts of Hulu, Crunchyroll, Viz and Funimation. The sales of Demon Slayer went over six million dollars! The producer of the anime Takahashi had said that there are no steady plans for the future of the series yet. At that time, he did not reveal any news about the movie nor the second season.

Although, during an interview with Comic Book, Takahashi stressed that the future of the anime depends on the fans. He said that the second season would make if there is enough support for the anime from the fans. I think the producer needs no more assurance. There is no lack of support for the series from the fans. Furthermore, the 19th episode from the first season was trending on Twitter. There has been no information about the release date yet.
