Matrix 4 [Major Update]: Hugo Weaving WON’T RETURN Alongside Keanu Reeves in Matrix Reboot

Unfortunate news of Hugo fans, he will not be in the cast of Matrix 4 anymore. Agent Smith, who played Neo’s nemesis on the show, will not be playing any role in Matrix 4. Weaving confirmed the news during a recent interview, revealing that, although he did talk with director Lana Wachowski about returning, a scheduling conflict has led to his departure from the film.

The cast includes Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jonathan Groff. The matrix 4 will be released on the same day as John Wick 4.

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprise their respective roles as Neo and Trinity. However, Hugo won’t be playing his famous antagonist role as Agent Smith. During an interview with Time Out, Hugo Weaving revealed that he did receive an offer to return for The Matrix 4, but it took several weeks to work out a schedule that wouldn’t conflict with a separate project he was offered earlier.

According to Hugo Weaving, director Lana Wachowski decided the dates they selected wouldn’t work and opted not to include Agent Smith in The Matrix 4. This Lana Wachowski masterpiece will see Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Henwick.

The matrix 4 will be out early in2020, according to sources.Co-creator/writer/director Lilly is also not involved with the fourth film, nor is Laurence Fishburne, as Reeves’ dourly intoning mentor Morpheus. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, star of HBO’s “Watchmen,” has been confirmed for the project — possibly as a younger version of Fishburne’s character.
