Megalo Box Season 2 is an upcoming anime boxing TV series, the sequel to Megalo Box. It is based on Magna, Ashita no Joe, produced by TMS Entertainment. It was written by Katsuhiko Manabe and Kensaku Kojima under the direction of Yo Moriyama. In 2018, it was broadcasted on Crunchyroll. It’s English dubbed version was released in 2018 at Toonami.
Megalo Box Season 2 Release date
Earlier, the director said the series is in development. However, due to the sudden spread of Covid-19 around the world, the production schedule was severely affected and therefore the release date was postponed. Hence, if we go by the latest industry news and all the information that we have we can expect its release sometime in 2021.
Megalo Box Story Synopsis
This series plots in a place divided into two areas. On the one hand, licensed citizens lived in Wealthy City. On the other hand, the unlicensed citizens lived in a slum in Japan.
The protagonist, a young man named Junk Dog, an illegal Megalo Boxer. Megalo Boxing is a famous sport, where the boxer has to wear a metal frame while fighting, attack more lethal in this sport. He illegally fights in underground rings, where the results were predetermined. Ganasaku Nanbu, his coach, tells him whether he has to win or lose a match.
One day he almost met with an accident with Yukiko Shirato, head of the wealthy Shirato Group. This group overseas Megalonia tournament. He has to fight with Yukiko’s Bodyguard, Yuri, a top-ranked Megalonia player. Yuri called him to fight. However, Yukiko stopped the fight. Yuki calls him again in the underground ring, where he easily strikes the low ranking players.
Consequently, Jung Dog must have a proper citizenship ID to fight in Megalo Box Ranking. So, Nanbu convinces Fujimaki to make an illegal copy of an ID named Joe for Junk Dog. They both got 3 months to prepare for the Megalo Box rankings, to get a chance of fighting in Megalonia.

Earlier, The director of the series, Yō Moriyama, said, ” I understand that there’s a lot of love regarding Megalo box, and I’m pleased about it. I am also delighted to say that Megalo box 2 is in development, and we definitely wouldn’t want to disappoint the fans. I am very much looking forward to it there is not much I can say at this point, I am trying to give out a very different angle compared to the first Megalo box, so I think can give fan something that is beyond their expectations.”

However, it is pretty much clear that Megalo Box Season 2 will release soon with some new twists.

However, the creators haven’t confirmed their cast for Season 2. But they can hire, previous season’s lead cast along with some new artists. Hence, these artists can voice the characters of the upcoming season:
