Ukrainian Game Developer GSC Game World may roll out a long-awaited new game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. The new game is called STALKER 2. The game was originally announced in 2010 after the release of Stalker: Call of Pripyat.

STALKER Basic Plot and History

It is a first-person shooting game set in the area around the Chernobyl disaster site. In the game, there is a second explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. As a result of the second blast, people around the Chernobyl start changing and become something different. The game is loosely based on the novel Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky and 1999 film of the same name.

The first game in the series is titled STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. It came out in 2007 and became a smash hit among gamers. For unknown reasons development of the game stopped in 2012. Subsequently, the game was canceled. Fans were extremely disappointed with the decision but accepted the move. In 2018 work on STALKER 2 has restarted. The game developer said, “Stalker 2 is a new project in which we use all the best ideas that our company has”. Furthermore, the developer has put together the largest team so far for developing the new game.

Details about the games are sketchy, but some details have leaked. According to these leaks, the new game will have a unique atmosphere and derive from the original Stalker trilogy. Moreover, the new game will not have a battle royale mode.

STALKER Release Date

Initially, Game was supposed to hit the shelves in 2021, but this date has been removed from the official website of the game. So the STALKER 2 release date is uncertain.
