Talk about Sherlock Holmes 3 has been doing the rounds since 2011. After fans getting to know some more interesting details, the buzz has started again.
Sherlock Holmes 3 was supposed to release on 25 December 2020. But it got delayed. Producers Susan Downey, Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, have now announced the date as 20 December 2021. Sources speculate that the reason for this delay could be Robert Downey Jr.’s hectic schedule. He was busy shooting the Avengers’ movies.
The previous parts of the series, namely, “Sherlock Holmes” and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, “were also released in December of 2009 and 2011, respectively. And they both collected over $500 million. However, Sherlock Holmes 3 will might have to face Avatar 3 and Hotel Transylvania 4 at the box office.
Sherlock Holmes supposedly seeks to explore and discover the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. With the movie’s release set in 2021, there is no official trailer out yet. Following the recent Hollywood tradition, we may expect a trailer by late 2020 or early 2021.
In Sherlock Holmes 3 also, Robert Downey Jr. will be seen as playing the character of Sherlock Holmes. Jude Law and Rachel McAdams will reprise their roles as Watson and Irene Adler.
The other cast announcement till now is of Paul Anderson. Netflix’s Peaky Blinders star is reprising his role as Colonel Sebastian Moran from A Game of Shadows.
A new character named Sidney Bloom will reportedly complete the trifecta between Holmes and Watson in Sherlock Holmes 3. Bloom’s character description lists her as just under the age of 30 and serving as an undercover operative within the U.S. Marshals posing as a reporter from San Francisco.
A ton of writers seems to work on the script, including Chris Brancato. Another new development is of Dexter Fletcher replacing Guy Ritchie. Guy Ritchie had directed the previous two Sherlock Holmes films.
Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic stories, the films are quite a craze among its fans.
