The series of Sherlock Holmes movies is directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Susan Downey, Lionel Wigram, Dan Lin, and Joel Silver. It’s the first part released on 25th December 2009 in the United States and the next day in the United Kingdom while it’s the second part, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows released on 16th December 2011 worldwide.

Both the films were a massive success in terms of box office collection as both of them crossed a total of more than 500 million dollars each as well as in terms of receiving critical acclaim.

Stephen Fry as Mycroft HolmesThe plot is set in 1890 in London, the United Kingdom, where a private detective, along with his right hand Dr. John Watson catch a serial killer Lord Henry Blackwood who was already indulged in five other murders. With the help of Inspector Lestrade, Blackwood is sentenced to death.

Before that, he warns Holmes that he will commit three more murdered before he dies. Later on, news comes out that Blackwood has been hanged. Once everything settles down, including Watson, who is happily engaged to Mary Morstan, we see the return on Blackwood.

Sherlock Holmes 3 Release Date

The news of the release of part three in the series was announced just a month after the second part came out. The initial release date was set to be 25th December 2020 by Warner Bros. However, we will be facing a delay, the reason for which is still unknown. For the moment, the new data revealed by the makers is 22nd December 2021, which makes it a delay of one year.

One major change that will be seen in the third part is the change of director. Instead of Guy Ritchie, Dexter Fletcher will take his seat as the director. Moreover, Downey and Law are coming back without a doubt, keeping alive their bromance. We still don’t have any news about the return of Kelly Reilly, Eddie Marsan, and Stephen Fry.
