The Orville is an American television series falling under the genres of comedy, action, drama, advent, and science fiction. It is created by Seth MacFarlane, who is also one of the cast melt of the series and produced by Fuzzy Door Productions and 20th Century Fox Television. T
he first season premiered on FOX on 10th September 2017 with 12 episodes followed by the second season on the same platform on 30th December 2018 with 14 episodes. The series has been inspired by many science fiction sources, Star Trek and its Next Generation successor being the major influencers.
THE ORVILLE SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE
The series has already been renewed for a new season. In fact, the production was in the process when they had to stop in mid-March due to the current pandemic situation to which the director and actor of the series Seth MacFarlane jokingly said in an interview, “We were right in the middle of shooting an episode of The Orville. So it’s like, when this thing airs at long last, whenever that is, one episode is gonna be such that between one scene to the next, people are suddenly gonna gain 20 lbs and have long white beards”. For now, we expect The Orville season 3 to be available on Hulu by late 2020.
WHAT WILL THE STORY BE ABOUT IN THE UPCOMING SEASON?
The shift of platform from FOX to HULU suggests that the series is no longer obliged to meet restrictive broadcast standards, which in turn indicates towards more adult themes in the new season. “There will be a continuation of things we care about, characters we care about” was what the makers of the show had to say about its plot. Moreover, the focus will now be less on the comedy and more on the dramatic development of the plot.

For the main cast, Seth McFarlane will continue to play the protagonist alongside Penny Johnson Jerald, Adrianna Palicki, and others. While the previous seasons witnessed the department of Halston Sage, who played Lt. Alara Kitan, there will be an addition to the cast in the upcoming season. According to a report issued by Deadline, Anne Winters is joining The Orville Season 3 as a series regular and will play the character of Charly Burke.
