The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero show from an online streaming giant – Netflix. The plot of the show is about a family of adopted siblings with superpowers who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an impending apocalypse. Initially, they are only given numbers as their names, but later their nanny names them with correct names. It was released on 15th February, earlier this year.
Right from its release, it has created a huge buzz amongst the media and audience as well. The story is based on comics of the same name created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá and published by Dark Horse Comics. The first season was based on the first volume, “Apocalypse Suite” and some initial part of the second volume, “Dallas” of the comic book series. After the big cliffhanger at the end of season one, it is only natural to expect the story to follow the rest of the second volume.
Season two was green light by Netflix on 2nd April 2019. Netflix announced that the first season had 45 million household views within the first month of its release. They have already begun filming for the second season in June 2019 in Toronto, Canada. Keeping in accordance with this timing, one can expect the second season in the first half of 2020. The official handle of the series made a post on Instagram on May 18, captioned as “We’ve seen the future.” It could very much be one of the scripts for season two! It has also received nominations at this year’s Emmys for Production Design and VFX categories.
