The era of 80 gave some us some marvelous movies. One of the marvels of the ’80s is Back to the Future franchise. In addition to the 80’s crowd, Movie is also loved by succeeding generations. There are numerous Reddit posts and blogs where fans have discussed alternative theories and remake ideas. However, there exists a loyal fan base that vehemently opposes the remake or reboot of the franchise.

What is Back to the Future about?

Back to the Future is a rom-com film in which the protagonist accidentally travels back in time. He makes his parents fall in love with each other while looking for a way to return to the future.

Rumors of a remake of Back to Future with Tom Holland as Marty McFly and Robert Downey Jr. as Doc Brown surfaced a few days ago. Rumors started because of a deepfake video that featured Tom and Robert enacting a very famous scene from the movie.

Clearing the air

In an interview, Tom Holland revealed that he had been part of discussions of the possibility of a remake of Back to the Future. Furthermore, Holland said that he is very impressed by the deepfake. Holland has also made it clear that remake or reboot is not happening anytime soon. Holland said:

“I’d be lying if I said there hadn’t been conversations in the past about doing some sort of remake, but that film is the perfect film- or one of the perfect films, one that could never be made better.”

What does the original director have to say?

Robert Zemeckis, the original director, had this to say about the reboot or remake “That can’t happen until both Bob [Gale, the trilogy’s co-writer,] and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.”
