Brightburn is an American superhero horror movie directed by David Yarovesky and produced by James Gunn and Kenneth Huang, released on May 24, 2019, by sony pictures releasing. The movie is about a young boy who is a superpowered alien who is adopted by the Breyer family. And After the success of the first film, Fans are asking James Gunn to Make Brightburn 2.

It was cast as Jackson A. Dunn as Brandon Breyer / Brightburn, Elizabeth Banks as Tori Breyer Brandon’s adoptive mother, David Denman as Kyle Breyer Brandon’s adoptive father, Matt Jones as Noah McNichol: Brandon’s uncle, Meredith Hagner as Merilee McNichol, A Clinkscales as Royce.
The plot of the movie was something different as Brandon Breyer being a superhero didn’t work as a hero for humanity but worked terribly and fearful for humans.
James Gunn Reveals plans for the Sequel!
After the success of the first part, the director of the movie David Yarovesky in an interview, said that there might be possibilities for Brightburn 2. Later in June, when he was asked about the same, he clearly said that he was busy writing and directing The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The actors of the movie David Denman and Jackson A Dunn also expressed their interest in the release of Brightburn 2.
Producer James Gunn himself on Instagram said that talks have already begun for Brightburn Sequel. So as now there is no official announcement or confirmation about its development, release so we can only wait for any information or hints from makers.

After its release, it had mixed reviews, the budget of the movie was $6-$12 million, and it grossed over $32 million worldwide with a collection of $17.3 million in the United States and Canada. Why Make A Superhero being Super-Villain Movie?
The first two parts of James Gunn’s The Guardians of the Galaxy had been successful at the box office and also critically acclaimed. Yet, during the developments of the third part, the decade-old jokes of Gunn had reappeared. He was fired from Disney for poor remarks on sensitive issues like paedophilia and rape.
However, after repeated public apologies for the offensive tweets and huge support from his ‘Guardians’ cast pleading for his return, Disney had rehired him. He had also tweeted his gratitude on a comeback.
“Brightburn was a great help”
It was a rough time for the filmmaker as he wasn’t doing anything. He had unravelled the idea for a supernatural movie for the series of months he was banned.
According to Gunn, Brightburn wasn’t his way of ‘escape’ from the obscure moments. The movie was his outlet for the love he has for telling stories through any medium possible. The film was more of a kin accord. The story was written by the Gunn brothers and the mask made by David Yarovesky’s wife, Autumn Steed.
James Gunn thought that the concept was ‘really dynamite.’ The concept is indeed unique. The cross between superhero powers and devilish mind rocks the silver screen. The movie implants a seed of doubt regarding adopting an alien baby dropped in the graves of the forest.
The root cause of the concept remains unresolved. Gunn trying something new and creative remains the possibility for the birth of the idea.
The Sequel of Demand
Fans heave heartily implored for a sequel of Brightburn. Especially the climax scene of the movie has risen the anxiousness amongst the masses.
The movie in the end had offered no hope for Brandon to change its course of the path. Instead, he had delved deeper into his evil whims by killing his parents. With his, every step and turn of heel mayhem befalls on the town. His heat vision and fatal abilities shall wreak havoc on anyone that crosses his path.
Possibilities
What shall the next volume have its womb if the call for confirmation erupts? Some probable storylines circle the ground. It can be broadly classified into the good and bad looking down the lane.
The Good:
A sliver of hope still lurks around the corner. Digging according to strata, the statistics of his teenage age could be the problem behind his atrocious responses. An adolescent anyway does not like heed to anyone’s advice or rule. Therefore, speculations rise that he might walk on a wise road. It can happen either when his adolescence passes or he gets mentored. The other possibility could be that he committed something he feels guilty of and that eventually alters his mindset.
The Ugly:
The turn of events shall lead to a different direction if the production decides against the ”good guy” story. Positions and plots are vast in this strata. Some of the many are:-
- Brandon is not the only superhuman on this planet. Many like him exist and their meet-up can lead to the arrival of a menacing force on Earth.
- Marauding creatures like him await in the shadows. They might be waiting for their leader who is maybe Brandon.
- Brandon can create or bring more beings like him and lead too.
- Someone is watching over him.
The hints are several and now it all depends on the makers.
The side where it takes its ultimate turn also depends upon how the creators perceive and what the audience finds more entertaining.
Official or Not?
Producer James Gunn hasn’t made anything clear yet. He has expressed his interest in jotting down the plot of Brightburn 2 by seeing the rise in demands by viewers.
Gunn is for now committed to his projects ‘The Suicide Squad’ releasing by 2021 and ‘The Guardians of Galaxy’ part 3 scheduled for 2023.
With nothing in hand as of now, the release of Brightburn 2 can hit the theatres after Gunn’s directorial commitments do. It can be assumed to be screened by 2022-23.
The Reprise of roles: The roles of characters would be revived in the next part or not again depends on the storyline. The question that if the film will pick up from where it left or with a time-lapse rope in the list of doubts too.
However, it is better to wait and hope that a piece of big news is soon on the way!
Brightburn 2 Release Date
Brightburn was announced in December 2017, and principal photography began in March 2018 and ended by May 2018. Similarly, the casting was done by March and was officially announced also. The movie was shot in the United States and Canada majorly. It was released in the United States on May 24, 2019.
