Women characters are often presented in a misconstrued manner in animes. They are either pushed to the status of secondary importance or commodified as sexual entities. Lord Marksman and Vanadis are one of those very few animes that attempt to depict women characters as strong warriors, therefore stepping out of the boundaries set forth by mainstream anime representation. The series’ anime adaptation was kick-started as a means to promote the light novels of the same name. This puts up a question mark on the status of Lord Marksman and Vanadis Season 2.
About Lord Marksman and Vanadis Season 2
The anime is based on the Japanese light novel series written by Tsukasa Kawaguchi and illustrated by Yoshi and Hinata Katagiri. The first season acquired a running time of 13 episodes by studio Satellite and began airing on 4 October 2014.
It’s been quite a time since the last season’s broadcast ended and now we’re all looking forward to Season 2. Will our prayers be answered by the creators of the show? Read on to find out.
The Official Announcement
The second season of the show hasn’t been renewed by the creators as of now. As mentioned before, the anime was meant to support the sales of the light novels initially. However, it garnered a positive response from both the audience as well as critics.
One of the writers of “Digital Journal” even went ahead to claim that the series “embodies the empowerment of women as most of the female characters are incredibly formidable warriors that brandish special mythical weapons.”
Presently, there is no update regarding Lord Marksman and Vanadis Season 2. We are keeping our fingers crossed for this one.

The Storyline
Set in the fictional country of Brune in Europe, the story delves deeper into the brewing Civil War like situation in the country due to the failing health condition of the present monarch named King Faron.
This situation builds up a rising rivalry between the Brunish Dukes Felix Aaron Thenardier and Maximilian Bennusa Ganelon, both meanings to acquire the throne. Meanwhile, Zhcted, the rival kingdom plans to make the most of this opportunity by releasing its war maidens who have lethal weapons.
Despite winning the battle Elen is in much awe of the Earl of Brune, Tigre, and therefore leaves him unharmed. The latter then allies with Elen and eventually even fall for each other. The story has a taste of Shakespeare’s Tragedies and History Plays with warring kingdoms and star-crossed lovers.

Lord Marksman and Vanadis Season 2 Release Date
The air time for the first season of the series ran from 4 October to 27 December 2014 on AT-X. Although the second season hasn’t been confirmed yet, there is still hope for the story’s continuation since the first season adapted only the first five volumes of the novels.
More than half volumes remain to be covered by the anime. Looks like we will have to wait till 2021 to hear more about the Lord Marksman and Vanadis Season 2 release date.
