The cast and crew of Van Helsing have overcome many challenges to bring the fans Van Helsing Season 5. The Syfy Network show that first aired on July 31, 2016, is a dark fantasy horror-drama that is well received worldwide. The fifth and final season has had quite a few setbacks but it will come. Here’s everything we know that you need to know.
Van Helsing Season 5 Storyline
The story focuses on the daughter of infamous vampire hunter, Abraham Van Helsing whose name is Vanessa Van Helsing. She wakes up from a coma after five years to a vampire-controlled world. As a result of being in this world, she realizes that her blood has a unique composition that makes her immune to vampires. It also allows her to turn them into humans. So, the hope of the world returning to normal lies in Vanessa’s hands.
Without spoiling too much, we know that season 4 has some key things happen.The world gets even closer to the ‘Dark One’ being resurrected as Sam has accomplished his destiny to become the fourth elder. Through an appearance on Comic-Con@Home Panel Discussion, we were not given a glimpse into the story of the fifth season by the creators. Burning questions like if Vanessa will return after vanishing into a mysterious vortex in the seventh episode of the fourth season will have to wait. We will see what happens once the show actually airs.

In the supporting roles we will see Kim Oates as Count Dalibor. We will also see the talents of Ali Liebertas Nina and Steve Bacic but their roles have not been announced yet.
The Obstacles
The show was renewed for Van Helsing Season 5 on December 17, 2019. Filming had started in Slovakia. However, after three episodes had been filmed, production had to be shut down because of Covid-19. At the Comic-Con@Home Panel Discussion, they emphasized that the family atmosphere that they have allowed them to return to filming while other shows were on the sidelines.
Van Helsing Season 5 Release Date
There is no official release date yet. As of July 21, 2020, filming did resume in Vancouver with proper safety measures. Executive Producer Chad Oakes said at Comic-Con that they want to make an announcement in September.

It’s now October so the announcement will be coming soon. The creators want the show to return in November or December. As a result, we expect the show to tentatively return before the end of 2020. So, once we know the exact release date, you’ll know.
Four seasons of Van Helsing are currently available on Netflix.
The Trailer
There is no official trailer yet. Since the show has begun filming again in Vancouain, we expect the trailer to drop once everything is filmed and they can put the footage together. We expect to see it within the next couple of months before 2020 ends. Until then, the latest trailer we have is from the fourth season which can be found below.
