Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen has been one of the most anticipated animes of 2020. Needless to say, fans will not be disappointed. People were wondering why this extremely popular manga was not getting an anime series. However, that is no longer the case. The anime will be released and fans will get what they’ve been waiting for. Keep reading to know everything that you need to know for the release.
Jujutsu Kaisen Plot
We will do our best to not spoil anything about the show. The avid readers of the manga undoubtedly know the plot very well. However, there will definitely be a lot of new fans coming into the fandom because of the trailers and the show. As a result, this is just a short write-up for those people to get a general idea about what the plot of the show is.
The story will focus on Yūji Itadori. He is an extremely fit high school student living with his grandfather. Like a normal student, he regularly avoids activities he doesn’t like, such as a the track team. Instead of the track team, he joins the Occult Research Club so he can leave early to relax and meet his grandfather. After his grandfather dies, Yūji interprets that everyone deserves ‘a proper death’ from his grandfather’s lesson on his deathbed. Yūji then runs into a sorcerer. The sorcerer tells him that he’s made contact with a cursed talisman in his school.
Curses are creatures that bring out the negativity in people. Yūji and his friends had uncovered the talisman; a rotting finger at the Occult Club. To save a friend, Yūji swallows a finger because he can’t do anything else. As a result he becomes host to a powerful curse named Sukuna. However, despite embodying the curse, Yūji still has control over his body for the most part. Instead of an immediate death sentence from the sorcerers, it gets postponed. He gets enrolled in the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College. There, he begins his journey to destroy all the curses by consuming all of Sukuna’s fingers.
