After a very warm reception, news about Demon Slayer Season 2 has been long-awaited by fans worldwide. The show ended on 28 September 2019 and it has been a year since there has been news about a second season. However, the Demon Slayer Movie: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Train was released in 2020.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Plot
Tanjirou Kamado is the main character in Demon Slayer. He has the responsibility of supporting his family after the death of his father. The family lives a relatively peaceful and happy lifestyle on a remote mountain. One day, Tanjirou goes down to a local village to make some money selling charcoal. However, on his way back, he has to take shelter in a strange man’s house because night has fallen.
The old man tells him about the horrifying flesh-eating demons that roam the woods at night. Once Tanjirou returns home, he discovers his entire family, except his sister have been slaughtered by demons. His sister is now a vicious demon. Along with a group called the Demon Slayer Corps, he vows to slay the demons and preserve the humanity that is within his sister. The second season is expected to carry on Tanjirou’s experiences from where the movie leaves off.
Demon Slayer Movie and the Story going Forward
The movie titled ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train’, is expected to release on 16 October 2020. For simplicity, we will just call it the Demon Slayer Movie. The movie is reportedly going to continue from the end of the last episode from the first season.
So, for the most part, we expect the second season to continue from where the movie ends. It seems that the studio, Ufotable, is giving us content in chronological order in line with the manga. As a result, it is fairly easy to predict that we will continue to get the story as it is in various forms. As of now, we don’t know if it will be in the form of a second season or a movie.
Has the Demon Slayer MangaDemon Slayer
Based on the manga named, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Demon Slayer has more than enough source material for a second season. Authored by Koyoharu Gotouge, this manga 207 chapters. All of these aren’t covered in the first season. As a result, source material will not be a problem for a new season as it is for quite a few shows. So, fans may just have to wait a little bit longer.
Demon Slayer Season 2 Release Date
There is no official release date available for season 2. There is just a whole lot of speculation. As the movie is expected to release on 16 October 2020, we can expect an announcement for the second season to come sometime after that. Once we get an update, we will let you know. We must also keep in mind that Ufotable is a small studio. As a result of a tight schedule, we may have to wait a bit longer for an announcement about a new season.
Until then, we can hope for a January 2021 announcement at the earliest. This is because the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed pretty much everything so fans just have to be a bit patient. As mentioned earlier, there is enough source material. So, a second season is very likely as a result of the popularity of the show.
