Blizzard has been continuously updating fans about Diablo 4. Ever since the reveal at Blizzcon 2019, the game has gotten fans excited. Admittedly fans have been waiting for this the 4th iteration of this game for quite a while. As a result, there has been a lot of hype behind the fourth game. Blizzard has been bringing new information in their quarterly updates. Here’s everything we need to know about the game. As Blizzard reveals more details, we will get them to you.
Diablo 4 Gameplay
The video above shows the gameplay trailer. The game is still in pre-alpha so expect the gameplay to change over time. The difference from previous games is that Blizzard has made the game open world which fans are comparing to World of Warcraft. However, more gameplay will be released over time. The latest we have from Blizzard are detailed gameplay videos of the Druid, Barbarian, and Sorceress class. Apart from that, we expect to see more in the coming weeks.
Diablo 4 Classes
So far, there are three classes that have been released. We have been given information about the Druid, Barbarian, and Sorceress classes. The Druid class is a blast from the past from Diablo 2. However, instead of fire magic, earth and storm magic power its attacks. Shape-shifting also changes a druid between humans, werebear, and werewolf.
The Barbarian is a weapon-wielding class. Whether a weapon is blunt or sharp, this savage class will wield it. Barbarians will be able to carry around four weapons and swap between them dynamically at any time.
The Sorceress takes a more tactical and ranged approach. She is a high-risk, high-reward class. The Sorceress harnesses elemental powers to wield different kinds of magic. She can switch between Fire, Cold, and Lightning. There is also a new mechanic, the chilling mechanic. The more cold damage you do, the more it will slow down your enemies eventually freezing and shattering them. Think ‘Frost Nova’ in World of Warcraft but more.
Diablo 4 September Quarterly Update
There is information in September’s quarterly update. The update brought new information about the combat, skill tree and more information about the Sorceress class in Diablo 4.

In the update, Blizzard acknowledges the flaws in the system of Ancestral, Angelic, and Demonic powers. They also acknowledge that the power level it offers doesn’t reward enough to compensate for the huge effort it requires to maintain on the player’s part. We are promised details about how the system will be reworked. We will get this at a later date. Blizzard has also said we will get a solution to the power level of legendary items.
Also, based on the response from fans, Blizzard has developed a significant change to the game’s skills. We were given an image of a vast and in-depth skill tree. This image can be seen below.
In this very literal tree, there are active abilities to work toward in the branches and passive abilities to work toward in the roots. Blizzard claims that by the time a character reaches the endgame they will have acquired 30-40% of the skills on the tree. This is done to ensure the variety and replayability of the characters.
Lastly, we have more in-depth news about how the Sorceress class will play. Her character has a unique Enchantment system to expand on the active skill system present in all classes. Every skill that the Sorceress can obtain can either be equipped as an active skill or placed in an Enchantment slot. Enchantment skills cannot be directly cast but they will give the Sorceress access to passive bonus abilities.
Diablo 4 Release Date
There is no official release date yet. The game is currently in development for the PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. We will have to wait till the virtual BlizzCon 2021 for an official release date.
