A major success that spawned from a short film, Death Parade Season 2 has been in demand from fans. The anime from Madhouse Studios that aired from January 10, 2015, to March 28, 2015, did get greenlit for a new season.
However, there hasn’t been word from the studio since they made the announcement. The popularity of the show made Madhouse Studios promise fans that a second season is coming. In fact, this was going to happen in 2016 but the studio said they need to tackle some problems. Keep reading to find out everything we know.
Death Parade Season 2 Plot
The plot of this show is quite simple. There is no heaven or hell after death. There is only a bar. A person can either be reincarnated or banished into the depths of oblivion. The attendant at the bar repeatedly pairs up recently deceased people. They compete in games such as darts, air hockey or bowling, or anything else. This decides their ultimate fate. The place is called ‘Quindecim’ where Decim, the judge of the afterlife lives.
The show follows these challenges where people receive judgment. That is until a strange new person cause Decim to question his own rulings. The plot of Death Parade Season 2 will most likely be similar to the first with changes coming into how Decim gives his rulings. However, nothing can be said for sure right now.
The Source Material
Interestingly, this anime did not originate from a manga like most other anime. It came to be from a short film produced by Tachikawa titled ‘Death Billiards’. As one can see, a big problem that the studio must be facing is the lack of content. Most anime just follow a manga for a story but that’s not possible in this case. So, new stories have to be written. Madhouse Studios didn’t expect the first season to be such a big success so they didn’t plan for it. If new content is written, then a second season will become more likely.
Death Parade Season 2 Release Date
Unfortunately, there is no official release date yet. The studio just went quiet about Death Parade Season 2 after promising it to its fans. The problem is that Madhouse is known for producing one-season shows such as Death Note among others. So, they might just not release a second season because it’s what they do. Well, let’s not confuse ourselves, because it might happen so that we might get another season post-pandemic! Keep Hope!

But, viewers shouldn’t lose hope because anything can happen. And since they are a studio that promised it, they might just keep their word. Once we know a release date, we will definitely let you know.
