Eromanga Sensei is a rom-com anime series produced by the well-known studio A-1 Pictures. It is based on the Japanese light novels written by Tsukasa Fushimi and the illustrations for the same were done by Hiro Kanzaki. Scroll down to read about the status of Eromanga Sensei Season 2.
The series has a well-established Japanese fanbase, but therein to it has been subject to mixed responses from its audience. While some deem the story to be a mellow romantic comedy, others straight out label it as a harem. The subject matter handled by the series has scandalized almost half of its viewers, still, they keep at it out of curiosity. The show has become another addition to the list of animes that have been called guilty-pleasures.
Eromanga Sensei Season 2 Official Announcement
Rumors stating that the second season is currently in production have been circling for quite some time now. However, there has been no word from either the studio handling the anime or its creators about a sequel. The light novels are still very much in demand due to the subsequent success of the anime adaptation. This has us hopeful for a possible renewal in the future, but it’s still very early to say anything about it especially since the OVAs came out last year.
Eromanga Sensei Season 2 Release Date
As far as anime years are considered, Eromanga Sensei isn’t an old release. The first season came out in April 2017 and was followed by 2 OVA specials in January 2019. Both the anime and light novels have a strong fanbase in Japan which has also recently facilitated reprinting the novels. On the other hand, the series didn’t do as well in the international market, but that could be credited to the fact that it’s still a pretty new name in the anime market. Seeing that the reprints of the novel are being brought out again, it’s safe to say that the anime will also be renewed for another season soon enough.

The Storyline
Before Eromanga Sensei Season 2 production begins let’s recap the story so far. Masamune Izumi, a high school student is trying to make a career out of his hobby of writing light novels. The identity of the illustrator of his novels is unknown to him except their adopted alias “Eromanga”. As the name suggests, the illustrator has a knack for producing questionable illustrations. Other than this, Izumi has an added responsibility for his stepsister Sagiri Izumi who has isolated herself from others in her room. The dynamic of the relationship shared by the two turns around completely when Masamune learns that Sagiri is the one who has been drawing for him.
