The Gymnastics Samurai is an Original Japanese Anime, a rare phenomenon where an anime is not based on any manga. The show is being directed by Hisatoshi Shimizu and Written by Shigeru Murakoshi. The Gymnastics Samurai Episode 6 Storyline
The show is set up in 2002, where the sport of men’s gymnastics was fading into irrelevancy. At the center of all this is Jotaro Aragaki, a gymnast way past his prime. He has never been able to win a gold medal and his coach Amasuka suggests retirement to him. At a press conference where he was supposed to announce his retirement, he suddenly changes his mind and continues to pursue a career in gymnastics.

The Gymnastics Samurai Episode 6 Preview
There is only one week left for the competition and Jotaro is working hard than ever. His coach reminds him that he is facing rising and young stars like Minamino. Jotaro ends up in 6th place during the competition and gets the opportunity to perform in China.
He is adamant and wants to reach the next level in gymnastics. His coach warns him that his injuries might come in the way and also advises him to think of a second career. Succumbing to this, he finally announces his retirement at the press conference.
This seems like a little diversion for our protagonist to reflect, after a few episodes, we might see him come back, as he wants to prove to his daughter that he still got what it takes. Remember, he didn’t tell his daughter about his intentions of retiring. So there is some guilt feeling in him, and he might come back for the sake of his daughter in Gymnastics Samurai Episode 6.
