[JUSTICE] High Court Dismisses the Last Minute Plea of Nirbhaya Convicts They Will Be Hanged Till Death At 5:30 AM Tomorrow

The convicts of Nirbhaya Gangrape are left with no legal remedy as their last lifeline has also been debunked by Delhi High court on Thursday.

One of the convicts, Mukesh, filled the plea in Delhi High Court, claiming He was not in Delhi at the time of the rape. However, HC denied the last-minute appeal. The court further stated that there is, thus, no infirmity, illegality, or irregularity in the order passed by the trial court.

Court explicitly denied any concealment of evidence during the proceeding in the trial court.

The fresh death warrant was issued on 5th march for hanging on March 20 of all the 4 convicts in the case – Mukesh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma, and Akshay Singh.

This is the first time that 4 men will be hanged together. The Execution is taking Place in Tihar jail after 7 years after the hanging of Afzal Guru.

The Execution will take place in the presence of Delhi Prison Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, medical officer, the medical officer in charge, resident medical officer, and the district magistrate or additional district magistrate. The family of the convicts will not be allowed to meet them.

The other two convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape case was Ram Singh and a Juvenile. Ram Singh allegedly committed suicide in Tihar Jail, and the Juvenile was released in 2015.

The Execution of Nirbhaya convicts will be historical and change the debates on Capital Punishment altogether. The Justice is still Balancing on the scales of Human rights and a mother’s appeal who fought for nearly 8 years. The country is undoubtedly witnessing a change in its rape laws.
