With Season 4 being a cliffhanger, Riverdale fans look at Season 5 in anticipation. The last few episodes of Season 4 could not be finished due to coronavirus pandemic, and thus it ended abruptly.
Fans have seen the central characters- Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Archie ( KJ Apa), and Veronica ( Camila Mendes), takedown various threats and learn dark secrets about the town, simultaneously navigating their relationships with each other in the loud teen drama.
The four of them have now come towards the end of their school, and fans were awaiting the prom episode, which was supposed to be episode 20 as showrunner Robert Aguirre-Sacasa informed.

Season 5 was initially expected to air in October 2020. People look forward to how will the love square of the four central characters develop because, towards the end, Betty and Archie shared an (another!) kiss cheating on their partners.
The prom episode will be a thrilling clash of Bughead and Varchie fans on one side and Barchie fans on the other, hoping that their favorite ships are endgame. The remaining episodes from the last season will be added onto the next.
“So what we’re doing is picking up right where we left off for the first three episodes, and then doing a time jump… after those three episodes.” Sarcasm told TVLine also revealing that season 5 will have a major time jump. This time jump might lead them to different colleges or might even go beyond education straight into their adult lives.
However, we must remember that the eponymous town is as much a character as the residents are, so they must come back to Riverdale.
Mädchen Amick, playing Alice Cooper, Betty’s mother, though not very clear, told TVLine, “… there’s something that’s going to bring them back to town.” The other important episode that is shifted to the next season is a “heavy” episode centered around Toni (Vanessa Morgan), reveals writer Ted Sullivan.
As of the cast, daddy F.P. Jones ( Skeet Ulrich) will not work in the next season. He has moved on to “other creative opportunities”.
He will be starring in the upcoming film Bios. His past season fling Hermoine Lodge ( Marisol Nichols), Veronica’s mom, is leaving as well. It marks the end of an era as the coolest parents have left the original cast.
