Teenager turned superhero is all set to return to the silver screen in 2022.
Relatively less popular DC Superhero Shazam may not have set the Box-office on fire, but with his superpowers and effective script, it did manage to earn enough to get a green light for its sequel.
Shazam was able to make only 364 million dollars worldwide at the Box-Office. This is relatively low in comparison to other superhero movies despite getting good reviews from viewers and critics.
Who will be back for Shazam 2?
Details about the sequel are hazy but some things are clear. Henry Gayden is returning to write the screenplay, David F. Sandberg and Peter Safran are most likely to return. Zachary Levi will return to reprise his role as the cape clad superhero. Asher Angel will reprise his role as teenager Billy Batson who turns into Shazam.
Foster Family of Billy includes Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Jovan Armand as Pedro, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield Peña, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, and Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley and their Superhero personas played by Adam Brody, Michelle Borth, Ross Butler, DJ Cotrona, and Meagan Good are expected to return.
The family was a major theme in the first movie, so directors may continue it in some way or another.
A New Villain?
Dr. Sivanna, played by Mark Strong, may return along with Mister Mind a mind-controlling space warm from Venus as the villain in the second part. Mister mind featured in the mid-credits scene of Shazam. Moreover, Black Adam played by Dwayne Johnson will not be the villain because a separate movie is planned for him.
Shazam 2 Release Date and Shooting
Shooting for Shazam may begin sometime in spring or summer of 2020. Movie will released in April 2022. Several other superhero movies are going to be released at that time, so it will be interesting to see Marvel and DC battling it out at the Box-Office. No matter who loses, Movie lovers will win.
