Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is an unconventional name for a Korean drama. In an industry filled with romance and subtle heroines, fairy weightlifting is something unique, isn’t it? Well, the show is about a group of college friends. The show is a sports genre and is inspired by the Korean weightlifter Jang Mi-ran. It aired in November of 2016; every Wednesday and Thursday. The series caught up well with the younger audience but has a lower viewership with only 4.6%. It, however, has some great reviews by the young and old. Even when there aren’t many hopes for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo Season 2, the chances cannot be entirely quashed. Since the show did catch up with the young audience and the central plot is a lot more than a simple romance, there could be chances of a second season.
The Storyline of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo Season 2
The show is about a young and enthusiastic college girl, Kim Bok-Joo, who wishes to make it big in the weightlifting arena someday. Along with her are her friends who are also into athletics. One day Kim announces her crush on her friend, Jung Joon-Hyung’s older brother. While Jung initially helps strengthen her chances for his brother, but in the process falls in love with Kim. This is where the show takes a turn and we see two people focusing on their careers and love at the same time.
The Cast
Season 2 stars Lee Sung-Kyung as Kim Bok-Joo, Nam Joo-hyuk as Jung Joon-Hyung, Lee Jae-Yoon as Jung Jae-Yi, and Kyung Soo-jin as Song Shi-ho. There is a huge list of supporting cast that makes the show an absolute delight to watch.
