World Trigger also known as WorTri in short is a Japanese Anime directed by Mitsuru Hongo and produced by Toei Animation. The show premiered on October 5 2014 and wrapped up on April 3 2016. With the total of 73 episodes, the show was highly praised by its fan and has a 7.5 score on IMDB. It aired on TV Asahi and Crunchyroll. And now fans are patiently waiting for World Trigger Season 2 to release.
World Trigger Season 2 Storyline
The story concerns itself with an army of aliens known as Neighbors and the group defending the earth from them known as Border with a weapon called Trigger. The two main characters of the story, Yuma Kuga, a friendly Neighbor posing as a foreign exchange student, and Osamu Mikumo, a son of a late Border.
At the conclusion of Season 1, we witnessed Border Agents preparing for an invasion from Galopoula, another dimension. Meanwhile, Osamu and Yuma admit themselves to the Border.
Season 2 would most likely continue from where it left off, a battle between The Border and the forces of Galopoula. It would be interesting to see what happens in this upcoming battle.
World Trigger Season 2: Official Announcement
The Season 2 was officially confirmed at Jump Festa ’20, with Toei Animation returning to produce the show and all cast members reprising the roles.
Along with a teaser was released for the World Trigger. This was not surprising considering the fan support and the manga content, add to that a video game was released as well, proving the profit potential of the franchise. However, no release date and plot details were released for Season 2 of the show.
World Trigger Season 2 Cast
As already mentioned, all the cast members would come back for Season 2. So all of our favorites including Tomo Muranaka as Yuma Kuga, Yuki Kaji as Osamu Mikumo, Nao Tamaru as Chika Amatori, Yuichi Nakamura as Yuichi Jin, Daisuke Sakaguchi as Xeno will be back. Also, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Rei Kugimiya, Hideyuki Tanaka, Nao Tamura, Jun Fukuyama, Tomo Muranaka will be reprising their roles. However there was no confirmation about English Cast, but it is most likely that they too would be returning for the role.
World Trigger Season 2 Release Date
While Season has been confirmed, nothing was said about the release date of World Trigger. So all we can do is speculate about when the show would come back. No new updates have been given since Jump Festa’20, so we would presume that the production process has not yet started.
The COVID-19 pandemic will also delay the production. So Let’s say the shoot starts at somewhere around Feb 2020, then the shoot itself would take about 4-6 months of the production time. After the production wraps up, the marketing would take 3-4 Months more. So our best prediction would be somewhere around Mid 2022.
