Soul Eater Season 2: When Will It Return? Everything You Need To Know

With over a decade of waiting, there is nothing new in sight for Soul Eater Season 2. This very well received shounen anime has been on hold for quite some time. Originally released on April 7, 2008, it gives the fans what they want from an anime. As a result, there has been a lot of waiting and wondering when it comes to the second season of Soul Eater. Soul Eater Season 2 Plot

The story is set in the Death Weapon Meister Academy in Death City. The Academy aims to train ‘Death Scythes’ to fight all the evils of its world. To become a Death Scythe one must be a human hybrid with the ability to transform their bodies into demon weapons. They must also consume the souls of 99 evil beings and one witch. The story focuses around Maka Albarn and her partner Soul Eater “Soul” Evans. They are students who want to become these scythes. The story follows Maka, Soul and their friends as they encounter evil beings, collect souls and protect the city.

The anime is based on the Manga of the same name. Authored by Atsushi Ookubo, the manga was published from June 24, 2003 up to August 12, 2013. As a result, there is quite a bit of source material for a second season. This is because the manga was still being published when the series was going on. However, the creators didn’t follow the manga for the whole season.

Most animes wait for their manga counterparts to release first and then follow but the studio, Bones decided to write their own story for the second half of the first season. So, they deviated from the then unavailable source material. However, there is enough source material now so there is potential for a second season.

Soul Eater Season 2 Release Date

Bones, the studio responsible for giving us Soul Eater has been nothing but quiet for the last decade. The show ended March 30, 2009 and since then there has been nothing new. As such, there is no official release date for Soul Eater Season 2. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be on the horizon or beyond that.

However, with enough push from the audiences, anything is possible. Also, the current trend is to renew old shows and movies so it is definitely a possibility. However, there is no date that we can be certain about. All we can do is wait for now.

Where To Watch Soul Eater Season 2

This classic anime is available on many platforms. As a result, it can be viewed on Netflix, Crunchyroll and Funimation. The second season of Soul Eater is expected to be viewable on the same platforms if it does come out. The first season was licensed by Funimation so we can expect to see the second season on there first before it rolls out onto other platforms.
