The British thriller series Bodyguard launched by BBC, which was quickly taken by Netflix, is all set for its second season after a fabulous first one. The political thriller was critically acclaimed in the United Kingdom, after which Netflix took it and produced it for the international audience. The series created by Jed Mercurio now has a solid fanbase across the globe, waiting for a second season.
David Budd, a Scottish war veteran from the Afghanistan war, now works as a police sergeant within the London Metropolitan Police service. He is there assigned to protect the Home Secretary Julia Montague, played by Keeley Hawes. She indeed is the leading proponent of the very conflict Budd fought in.

Bodyguard Season 2: Plot
The season one shows that David is tasked with the protection of politically ambitious Home Secretary Julia Montague. Differences arise when Richard understands that the Home Secretary’s politics stands for everything he despises. Already concerned by his war-field past, David now finds himself torn between his duty and beliefs. Things become more complicated when Julia is killed in a conspired bomb explosion. David is accused of playing a role in the conspiration and now must prove his innocence. Eventually, he shows it and is seen happily leading his life in the end. Now with Julia dead in season 1, it is to be seen what for David Budd. The makers have not disclosed any details about the plot of the second season.
Bodyguard Season 2: Cast
Till now, it is confirmed that apart from Keeley Hawes, the other main cast is set to return. Richard Madden will be seen again in the suit as the bodyguard. The other cast from season 1, which will be back, is Gina McKee, Sophie Rundle, Vincent Franklin, and Pippa Haywood.

Bodyguard Season 2: Release Date
The makers announced that there were no ideas for making season 2, and the series was to be concluded with its first season. But recent work has begun on the second season as disclosed by series star Richard Madden, who plays David Budd. It was assumed that the production of season 2 would start by the end of 2020, only for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic to delay it. This means that there won’t be a season 2 this year or by early 2021. It may well be expected by mid-2021 or by the end of it.
