On the fictitious tropical island of Saint Marie, it’s all changed, as the cast of Death in Paradise had a shakeup.
Bosses at the famous BBC One crime drama revealed that Ardal O’Hanlon would leave the show, replacing him with a very familiar face by a new character.
The eight series ended at the end of this year in February. The nine series is now arriving – here’s all you need to know about the new-look show:
What does Death in Paradise Season 9 Casts look like?
O’Hanlon started the series heading up the Saint Marie police team as the lead detective DI Jack Mooney, but it announces that the final series with O’Hanlon as he leaves the show for good.
O’Hanlon joined the sun-soaked detective drama and ended up taking him back to Saint Marie.
Following three years of leading the team in solving the murder mysteries of the idyllic Island. Though, he has decided to leave Guadeloupe’s sandy beaches (where the show is actually filmed) to pursue other possibilities.
He said: I’ve been playing DI Jack Mooney for the last four summers in Guadeloupe. It’s been a truly satisfying and unforgettable experience as they are collaborating with incredibly talented players, producers, and crew and exploring a beautiful part of the world.
It is time, though, to move on and explore other opportunities-preferably closer to the Arctic Circle.
I am sure Death In Paradise will go from strength to strength, and my passion for Jack’s replacement will be reflected by fans!

Ardal has been amazing in the last few series, and it was a great honor and a dream come true to follow in his footsteps in a place as idyllic as Guadeloupe. Playing Neville is a pleasure, and I can’t wait for audiences to see him in this season at Paradise.
