The Plot
Diamond no Ace follows Eljun Sawamura, a baseball pitcher who plans to go to a local high school with friends and play and gets a chance at a scholarship at Seidou High. Along with him, we see Furuya, Haruichi, and Maiyuki as they prepare for their ambitious goal to go through the fall tournament.
To refresh memory, here is a recap of the previous chapter. The story moves away from the game to Yakushi high school. Since the 3rd year has retired, Akiba has been nominated as the new captain of the new team. Raichi is depressed as he feels responsible for the seniors losing their final summer and skips practice. The focus shifts back to the game. Sawamura is pitching at a good pace and is taking one strike after another. Zono misses a catch due to his injury.
With Seido’s fielding error, Sankou is one out with a runner on second. Seido faces Hoshida, Sankou’s best batter. Sawamura welcomes Hoshida with an inside moving pitch, which he fouled off for strike. Now with two strikes down against Hoshida, Sawamura is determined to locate a pitch that runs away from the zone this gives Hoshida a chance to strike out now with three pitches.
