Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher Season 3: Is Netflix Returing with 3rd Season, Release Date & Everything we know so far

The Punisher will not be renewed for a third season. Marvel’s Netflix show on the iconic anti-hero, created by Steve Lightfoot, first premiered in November of 2017. Jon Bernthal plays the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher; he reprises his role from Daredevil, which is another Netflix show of Marvel that has been canned.

The show is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of popular feature films like Iron Man and The Avengers. In the first season, Frank Castle/The Punisher uncovered a more massive conspiracy behind what was done to him and his dead family members. The second season drew the main character into a case involving the attempted murder of Amy Bendix (a new role that also appears in the Marvel comics). Both seasons had thirteen episodes each.

Critical reception to the series has been lukewarm. Both seasons are currently rated as having received “mixed or average reviews,” according to Metacritic. This pales in comparison to the acclaim enjoyed by Daredevil. However, a solid rating of 8.5 on the IMDb platform does indicate that the show was well-received by audiences.

Before The Punishers cancellation, Kevin A. Mayer, chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI), noted that, while it had not yet been discussed, it was a possibility that Disney+ could revive the other canceled Marvel Netflix series. Disney+ is an American subscription video-on-demand streaming service owned and operated by the DTCI division of The Walt Disney Company.

Many other Netflix shows of Marvel, such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, have been canceled. Fans would hope that Disney+ will be the platform to feature these enjoyable shows and that the cancellation on Netflix is just a temporary delay for future seasons.

However, the fact prevails that there is a complete lack of details regarding the future of The Punisher.
