The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2 is an upcoming romantic comedy South Korean television series based on a classic Joseon legend, You yadam written by Yu Mong-in. Park Ji-Eun wrote the series starring Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Min-ho. Jin Hyuk and Park Seon-Ho directed this series under the production of Studio Dragon
The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2 Plot
The plot of the series basically revolves around two parallel stories the first story sets in the Joseon era while another story is set in the present time. It basically follows the love relationship between a boy and a mermaid. This plot will melt everyone’s heart.
Kim Dam-ryeong And Se-Hwa
The story of The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2 begins when a mermaid saves a boy, Kim from drowning. He belonged to a noble family. After this incident, Kim named The Mermaid, Se-Hwa. However, they became friends and gradually they started loving each other. But Kim’s Noble family strongly opposed this relationship and forcefully did Kim’s arranged marriage.
He was not satisfied with the marriage and he jumped into the sea in search of his love. However, Se-Hwa saves him and erases his memory so that he doesn’t come back to search for her. However, after several years they are against changing their parts. Till this moment it came has become the office of the town.
One day a fisherman captures the Mermaid and she is presented in front of Kim. However, Kim doesn’t recognize her and orders to release her into the sea because he was feeling pathetic for her. But Yang, a noble town man is not satisfied with his order because of his ill intentions. Hence, he starts spreading rumors that Kim is unfit for the position. Later, he was sent to exile. However, his memory Returned in his dreams. The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2 will also have this?
Soon he realized that things will repeat. Consequently, he prepared a time capsule to protect her from Yang in the future reincarnation. Unfortunately, while protecting her, a spear hit his back, and with the same spear, Se-Hwa pierces herself. As a result, both died.
Joon-Jae and Shim Cheong
At present, Kim was reincarnated as Joon-Jae. His real parents took a divorce when he was young. However, his custody was given to his father and his father marries a selfish woman, Kang Seo-hi. Later, he struggles to bring back his memory. And the mermaid also comes back to Seoul where she meets Joon. He brings her to his home and names her Shim Cheong. Gradually, they fall in love. In the meantime, his stepmother hires Ma Dae-young to kill him. So that she can get all the Fortune he had. He tried to kill Joon but failed. Shim erased Ma’s memories during which she is remembered her past life. At the same time, things started getting clear. However, they both busted into his stepmother. The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2 to start from here.
Unfortunately, Shim was shot while protecting Kim. Consequently, she returns to the sea to heal. Additionally, she tried to erase his memory again. She did so because she thought he will be sad if she died. However, when she returned after several years he remembered her and they both decided to spend their rest of the life together.
The Official Announcements
Since the makers didn’t come up with any official announcement regarding The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2. The series had a concluded and satisfying end. However, fans are expecting a sequel for this series. But we have to be patient until the makers announce the details about this series.

The Cast of The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2
However, if the makers are in a mood to renew The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2. Then, most probably the previous cast would return. We expect the following artists to return in the second installment:
- Jun Ji-Hyun as Shim Cheong/ Se-Hwa
- Lee Min-ho as Heo Joon-jae/ Kim Dam-ryeong
The Legend of the Blue Sea Season 2 Release Date
As stated above, the makers haven’t come up with any official announcement about the second installment of this series. However, if the makers are in a mood to renew this series with some new twists, most probably it will release in 2022.
