The Promised Neverland Season 2 is Coming in 2021, Release Date Confirmed

From 11 January 2019 to March 29, 2019, The Promised Neverland aired on Fuji TV. The show had 12 episodes and was directed by Mamoru Kanube. The show gained a lot of fan adoration as well as critical acclaim with an IMDb rating of 8.7 out of 13,552 ratings. Promised Neverland Season 2 was set to return in 2021 but was delayed due to COVID-19.

The Promised Neverland Season 2 Storyline

The plot follows three young protagonists called Emma, Norman, and Ray who live in an orphanage along with other orphans, they come to know that their beloved home is not actually an orphanage but a farm where children are bred and later sacrificed to the demons. They then hatch a plan to escape. A cat and mouse game follows, with Isabella trying to stop them from escaping.

In the end, all the children escape, but we are later provided insight into Isabella, we find out that she is actually Ray’s biological mother. She also worries about how the children will survive in the real world.

We might learn more about the world outside the farm in season 2.

The Promised Neverland Season 2 Announcement

Initially, the second season was supposed to be released in 2020. At Anime Expo 2019, Mamoru Kanbe said the second season was a “challenge” and the staff members were working on the script. Kenta Suzuki, the producer said that the show will focus more on Emma’s promise. However, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the show was delayed.

The Promised Neverland Cast

All the cast members should be back and in addition to that new cast members can be expected to join the cast as the trio tries to mingle with the outside world. So, the trio of Sumire Morohoshi, Maaya Uchida, and Mariya Ise as Emma, Norman, and Ray respectively should be back. Yuko Kaida as Isabella would probably get more layered as new things about the character would get revealed.  Also, side characters like Shinei Uska as Don, Lynn as Gilda, Hiyori Kono as Phil, and many others should be back.

The Promised Neverland Season 2 Release Date

The show was set to release somewhere around late 2020. But unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, everything in the film and television industry got delayed. Including, The Promised Neverland.

The show is set to release in January 2020, the exact date is not confirmed. But we should expect an announcement to come soon.
