The first few seasons of Dexter were filled with dark humor and were laced with gory, original stories. The show peaked in the fourth season with the unexpected return of the Trinity Killer. What with the season-ending on a shocking twist, this was one of the most widely loved seasons of Dexter. The seasons that followed were a turning point in the show’s popularity.

The season 8 finale of Dexter did not receive a positive response from its fans. The finale saw Dexter faking his death in order to avenge his sister’s death at the hands of a serial killer, Saxon.

The finale saw Dexter dropping Debra off in the sea after taking her off life support. He was seen heading headfirst into a hurricane and was assumed to be dead. However, the last few minutes showed his return as a lumberjack in Oregon. This unexpected return was something the audience did not appreciate.

With Dexter going into hiding, there are chances of this show coming back. Michael C. Hall is very much open to the idea of reviving Dexter. According to him, he hasn’t ruled out the return of Dexter; he just needs to hear a brilliant idea for a comeback. Michael also feels its too early for the show to return.
