Future of the Justice League 2 highly doubtful after below expectation performance of Justice League
DC’s legendary characters such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg came together on the silver screen in the 2017 film Justice League. Many DC fans said this was DC’s reply to Marvel’s Avengers, which broke the box office records.
Justice League, however, could not make a deep impact on the Box office as critics felt the director added too many meaningless dream sequences and excessive animation. Fans were divided, but many felt disappointed with the movie. All this raised a big question on the future of Justice League 2, which was originally slated for a 2019 release and followed by a third movie.
Thereafter, DC pulled up its socks and delivered successful movies such as Wonder Woman, Shazam and Aquaman, and Joker. In all the newfound success of these standalone films, fans and studios both forgot about the scheduled 2019 release of Justice League 2.
Justice League 2 seems a distant possibility as DC has a lot of new projects lined up such Birds of Prey in February 2020, followed by a sequel of Wonder Woman. Keeping in mind the good box-office collection of these standalone films, the studio might want to focus more on their sequel.
WHO WILL BE THERE?
Justice League 2 looks difficult also because Ben Affleck, who portrayed the Dark Knight in Justice League, will not reprise his role, and Henry Cavil, who played Superman, may not return either. This leaves the Justice League without a Batman and Superman, who are two major figures. We may see Darkseid as the villain or a supervillain team-up of Lex Luthor and Deathstroke and others in the new movie
ARE WE THERE YET?
If there is a Justice League movie, it will not be released before 2021, and we will see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as Flash, a new Batman, a new Superman and some new members such as Shazam and Green Lantern (Hopefully).
