New School term brings new challenges for the Derry Girls
British sitcom about teenage girls navigating their way through life while growing up shall return to the small screen. Channel 4 has officially confirmed that Season 3 of Derry Girls is happening.
Rumors of cancellation of the show were indeed false. Writer Lisa McGee The created the series Hat Trick Productions produced it. Series first aired in January 2018. Critics and viewers both gave positive reviews to the series.
Derry Girls Season 3 Basic Plot and everything so far
The show is based in Derry, Northern Ireland, and set in the 1990s when the situation in Derry was tensed. The second season ended with James deciding to stay back in Derry with his friends, along with continuing his relationship with Erin.
According to the writer, Season 3 will pick up from where season 2 ended and will be about a more affirmative period for the gang. Moreover, Derry will take a step closer towards peace with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. In addition to that, the writer Lisa McGee also revealed that she might wrap up the story with this season.

Show stars Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Erin Quinn, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell portrays Michelle, Louisa Harland as Orla McCool, and Nicola Coughlan plays Clare, Dylan Llewellyn as James Maguire, Leah O’Rourke as Jenny Joyce, Tommy Tiernan as Da/Gerry and Tara Lynne O’Neill as Ma/Mary. All the major cast members are expected to reprise their roles for the next season. So far, there is no news about new actor or actress joining the cast for the third season
Derry Girls Season 3 Release Date
Details of the plot are kept under wraps. The studio is yet to reveal a release date for the new season, but relying on the release pattern of earlier seasons, we may see the new season in April or May 2020.
