Why was Evangelion 4.0 delayed?
After the production of Evangelion 3.0, Anno fell prey to depression and stated that he couldn’t work on the 4th installment. He was later approached by Toho Co. Ltd. to reboot the famous name of the Godzilla movies and direct a project title “Shin Godzilla”. The working process of this enterprise put a full stop to the Evangelion 4.0. Then, finally, in 2017, the studio claimed the production of the final movie was underway.
The ongoing development of the film was again put on hold in April 2020 due to the pandemic. So, we will have to be patient for this release. It will definitely come out but not as soon as we’d expected it to.
The plot of the third movie revolves around Shinji waking up on a dilapidated Earth 14 years later. He’s caught up in the loop of dying and being born again while having to face the angels as the world is headed in the direction of massive annihilation.
The End of Evangelion is streaming online on Netflix.
