A lot of controversies related to the role of the 16 years old Ariel was going on when the official announcement regarding the live-action remake was made. Some believed that supermodel Zendaya is being cast for the role, and the others thought it was Halle Bailey.
Well, all the rumors were put to an end when the makers confirmed that the role of the mermaid would be played by Halle Bailey.
Halle Bailey was a child actor and was part of movies like A Wrinkle in Time, Grown-ish, and The Last Holiday. She is also a part of the musical duo Chloe X Halle.
What is the release date of The Little Mermaid?
Well, Disney has yet not confirmed a release date for The Little Mermaid live-action movie. The principal photography for the movie was scheduled to start in April 2020, but it has been postponed because of the ongoing pandemic situation.
Disney fixed November 19, 2021, as a release date for an untitled movie. Our guesses are that maybe our young mermaid will come back on the big screen on that day, but if that is not the case, fans might have to wait for a 2022 release.
