The community is eagerly waiting for Made in Abyss season 2. It’s a fan favorite that had an extremely successful first season when it first aired on July 7, 2017. The wait has been for 3 long years. Fans are demanding to know when the second season will come out. Here’s everything we know so far.
Made in Abyss Season 2: The Rundown
Made in Abyss is an adaptation of the Manga of the same name written by Akihito Tsukushi. The abyss is a rift filled which goes deep into the Earth. It’s filled with mysterious creatures and unsolved mysteries. The story follows the tale of an orphaned girl named Riko. As a result, she wants to be like her mother and explore the depths of the abyss. Since she is just a novice, she is only allowed to explore the upper realms of the abyss where she finds a robot who looks like a boy. However, the robot has no recollection of how he got where he is. Riko names him Reg. She realizes that whatever Reg is, the answers must be in the depths of the abyss. So, they decide to journey into the abyss, not knowing what awaits them.
Made in Abyss Season 2: The Films
There have officially been three films released since 2019. The first film titled ‘Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn’ is a compilation of episodes 1-8 of the first season from 2017 with added scenes. The second film titled ‘Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight’ is a compilation of episodes 9-13 of the first season from 2017. Both the films were released in January 2019. If you aren’t in the mood to go through the episodes, the films are excellent way to catch up to the first season.

The third and last movie, for now, is titled ‘Made in Abyss: Dawn of The Deep Soul’. It faced delays because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Its original release date was January 17, 2020, in Japan but releases in other countries got delayed.
Made in Abyss Season 2: When Can We Expect It?
There is no official word from the makers. However, at the end of Dawn of the Deep Soul, the words “to be continued” were seen hinting at either another season of the show or another way. Either way, the story is expected to continue. In Season 2, we can expect more emphasis on the origins of Reg along with Riko’s search for her mother. We can expect the thrills, the adventure and the dangers they will face as they continue to dive deeper into the depths of the abyss.
