Myriad Colors Phantom World Season 2 Release Date
As of now, there are no official claims regarding the release of a new season. Though, according to some rumors, ‘Myriad colors Phantom World’ Season 2 release date was supposed to be announced somewhere around the fall of 2020.
But that did not happen considering the pandemic. There are possibilities for another season as there is enough material from the manga. Fans can expect to wait longer for any updates.
Myriad Colors Phantom World is introduced with a little history lesson where a decade before the events of the anime, a laboratory experiment with human brains went wrong. This led to the outbreak of a virus that infected the brains of all the humans and suddenly allowed them to see mythical beings that have been living with them all this time. The humans are opened to a whole new world of phantom and ghosts but soon, as a part of genetic evolution, the next generation of humans turn out to have powers to fight these mythical beings. Not all of the phantoms are evil, but there are a few of them who give humans a very tough time.

In order to destroy the evil ghosts, a high school establishes teams of young students who hunt them down. By doing this, the students are able to earn money to pay off their school fees. Two of these students are Haruhiko Ichijou and Mai Kawakami who are known to be the best in their batch . Haruhiko is able to summon and seal the ghosts through her drawings and Mai uses elements of martial arts to fight off the phantoms. The two are also joined by a friendly phantom named Ruru and they dedicate their lives to protecting human beings from the mischievous creatures.
How does the Story start?
After the introductions, we see Haruhiko and Mai who spend their days hunting down troublesome Phantoms by themselves in order to earn rewards from their school. However, their latest reward was confiscated after their battle with a Phantom . Haruhiko witnesses Reina Izumi defeat a Phantom by consuming it and immediately asks her to join the Phantom Hunting Club. Though she initially refuses, she later joins Haruhiko and Mai in dealing with telephone pole phantoms by defeating them in a limbo contest.
Haruhiko then talks about how reality is merely the brain perceiving the world and Phantoms are still not entirely understood. He tries to become more useful by learning how to summon Phantoms and Demons using his sketchbook. Haruhiko, Mai and Reina are tasked to assist another Hunter, Koito Minase, who can seal Phantoms using only her voice. They are asked to take down security robots that have become Phantoms in an abandoned factory, where Haruhiko retrieves a mysterious device. Reina reveals she has a healing ability. Koito dismisses the team as useless and unimpressive.
What happens in Myriad Colors Phantom World Season 1?
After the fight with Enigma, Haruhiko has lost his ability to seal Phantoms. His mother remains unconscious in the hospital. Ruru has undergone a drastic personality change and starts acting more like Haruhiko, i.e. polite, helpful and rather clumsy. It is suggested this is because Haruhiko no longer has powers and it has affected Ruru due to how close the two are.
Elsewhere Koito is unable to crack Enigma. Instead she goes to Haruhiko’s house and demands he finish fixing the device from the warehouse as it can access the Alayashiki computers and possibly information on Enigma. They discover that Alayashiki had been researching students abilities in order to artificially make Phantoms stronger for uses ranging from slave labor to disposable soldiers. One file focuses on Haruhiko and his relationship with Ruru.
Enigma, the most powerful Phantom created, now hates humans. Enigma returns to Alayashiki Hospital searching for information. Mai, Koito, and Reina fight Enigma who uses her stolen powers to easily defeat them. Haruhiko steps in and attempts to fight Enigma but is hurt while protecting Ruru. Himeno reveals that Ruru was created from Haruhiko’s mind as an expression of the carefree part of his personality he had been repressing. So she likely has the same powers Haruhiko does and Haruhiko can regain his powers by taking them from Ruru in the same way Enigma took them from him, with a kiss.
After some hesitation, Haruhiko and Ruru kiss, returning his summoning ability. They instantly defeat Enigma’s summoned Phantoms and injure Enigma. Working together Haruhiko and his team manage to defeat Enigma who is happy humans are more complex than she first thought, and that she also enjoyed the time she spent with Haruhiko as his mother, before she disappears. Life returns to normal and Haruhiko claims that even though the world tends to blur between fantasy and reality he rather likes it that way.
