Uncharted 5: Know everything about the Release Date, Gameplay, Plot and Others!!

With the release of the PlayStation 5 just around the corner, Uncharted 5 is on people’s minds. Even if you aren’t a PlayStation owner, you’ve definitely heard of Nathan Drake. The PlayStation 5 is releasing on November 12 in North America, Oceania, Japan, and South Korea. The rest of the world will see it on November 19. So, what is in store for the Uncharted series? Will the PlayStation exclusive get another game? Will Nathan Drake return? What’s in store for this beloved game series?

There are a couple of possibilities when it comes to the future of Uncharted 5. Read on to know everything we know.

Uncharted 5: The History

The Uncharted series is a set of PlayStation exclusive games. They are developed by Naughty Dog. Currently, there are four games; some with expansions. As a result, there is a lot of expectation for Uncharted 5. But before we get to that, let’s look at a short history of the games.

The first game in the series was “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”. This came out in 2007 on PlayStation 3. The second game in the series came out in 2009. The title of the second game is “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves”. As a result of a deal between Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment, the first two games were PlayStation exclusives.  In a similar pattern, two years “Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception” was released in 2011. This was followed by “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” in 2016. These are the four main games in the series.

Apart from them, two games came out on the PlayStation Vita. They were “Uncharted: Golden Abyss” and “Uncharted: Fight For Fortune”. The games came out in 2011 and 2012 respectively. In 2015, the first three games were remastered into “Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection”. Apart from that, the fourth game got a stand-alone expansion. The title of this expansion is “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy”. It came out in 2017.

About the Series!

Uncharted 5: Know everything about the Release Date, Gameplay, Plot and Others!!

This is the first game in the series not to have Nathan Drake as the protagonist. This game had Nadine and Chloe as protagonists. They are sub-characters from previous games. As a result, players believe this is the fifth game in the series. However, this is not the case. It is just a stand-alone expansion and not the fifth game. Naughty Dog has said that they are done with Nathan Drake when it comes to Uncharted. However, that does not mean that they won’t carry on with other characters. We will discuss this more in the upcoming sections.

A Remastered Version

There is already a trend going on for remastering games for new consoles. The first three games which were on the PlayStation 3 got remastered for PlayStation 4. One likely possibility is that there won’t be the fifth game but a remaster of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. This would be for the PlayStation 5.

A Whole New Protagonist

As mentioned before, Naughty Dog is done with Nathan Drake. But that doesn’t mean they won’t continue the series with a whole new protagonist. There are 3 possibilities:

  1. [Spoilers] At the end of Uncharted 4, Nathan has a daughter. Her name is Cassie Drake. There is potential for her to be a protagonist in a new game
  2. The standalone expansion of the 4th game has Chloe and Nadine. These sub-characters could get their own story in a new game.
  3. There could be someone entirely different. As a result, they would have no relation to the previous games. So, they would take the series in a whole new direction.

Uncharted 5: Release Date!

There is no sure-fire way to determine when Uncharted 5 will come out. What we can be sure of is that it will take a few years. Unless Sony does a surprise reveal, we will have to wait. We also have to keep in mind that there are other PlayStation exclusives that they could release. So, once we know more you’ll know.
